We really enjoy helping both professional and home bakers work out how to use our edible flowers on their wedding and celebration cakes. Even if you’ve used them before, they can provide a wider range of design flourishes than you might think. Here are our top four ideas for edible flower cakes:
Edible flowers for wedding cakes or other celebration cakes often need to work on multi-tiered bakes. Seasonal flowers can be added in bunches on the sides of each tier, on the top of the cake, or cascading down one or more of the tiers.
A single tier cake can have edible flowers added either across the whole surface, or across a section, and you can get very different looks depending on your choice, although both will look fresh and stunning.
The third classic use of edible flowers for cakes is to press them into the buttercream. We can offer bakers advice and guidance from us on how to press the flowers to include in these cakes, and we’ve seen some beautiful examples over the past few years.
In the last couple of years we’ve seen a growing number of long centre-piece sheet cakes. These are a brilliant base for bakers to let their designs run wild and often feature edible flowers, frequently combined with fruit or other decorations. We’re sure these are going to be popular throughout 2026 and are expecting to see lots of content featuring them.
And not quite making the top four, but something we are really excited about - we are seeing more and more dome cakes with some really vivid colours highlighting this unusual shape. Whatever shape of cake you’re planning to bake, we are always available to provide advice on your design and which varieties of seasonal edible flowers will work best for you.
